What are keywords in GeoRank?

Keywords in GeoRank are natural-language queries — the questions your customers ask AI platforms. Unlike traditional SEO where you track short keywords like “CRM software”, in GeoRank you track conversational questions like:
  • “What’s the best CRM for small agencies?”
  • “Top project management tools for remote teams”
  • “Best alternatives to Notion for startups”
This matches how people actually talk to ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity.

Adding keywords

  1. Go to Keywords in your dashboard sidebar
  2. Click Add Keyword
  3. Type your keyword or phrase
  4. Select which AI platforms to monitor
  5. Select the domain this keyword is associated with
  6. Click Add Keyword

Writing effective keywords

What would your ideal customer type into ChatGPT? Not what you’d search on Google. AI queries are conversational — use full questions and natural phrasing.
“Best email marketing tool for e-commerce under $50/month” is much better than “email marketing”. Specific queries get more actionable visibility data.
Track keywords across different angles: product category, use case, comparison, and alternatives. For example:
  • Category: “Best project management tool”
  • Use case: “Tool for managing remote dev teams”
  • Comparison: “Asana vs Monday vs ClickUp”
  • Alternative: “Best alternatives to Trello”
Questions like “Is X better than Y?” are extremely common on AI platforms. Make sure you track these.

Keyword statuses

Each keyword is assigned a status based on your performance:
  • Ranking — Your brand is consistently mentioned
  • Improving — Visibility is trending upward
  • Needs work — Inconsistent mentions
  • Not ranking — AI doesn’t mention you for this keyword

Manual queries

You can trigger a query manually at any time:
  1. Go to the Keywords page
  2. Click Generate Query Now
  3. Select the keywords and platforms to query
  4. Click Generate
Manual queries consume your monthly quota. Check your remaining queries in the generation dialog.
